Idared

Idared apples grow on smaller trees that are nevertheless good fruit producers. The harvest comes from mid-October, but they are ripe for eating until April. The apples themselves are medium-sized dessert apples and very roundish. Their bright red coating also makes them very decorative.

The flesh is yellowish-green, although sometimes a faint pink tinge can be seen. They are both sweet and tart, juicy yet crunchy and firm.

The best fruits have a lively, aromatic and refreshing taste. The Idared is a good example of a young apple variety produced with modern scientific methods but with inherited parent or ancient varieties.
